Where I work:
WHERE ARE YOU FROM?
I come from a small city called Spokane, which is in Washington State, which is in the northwest corner of the USA.
My Washington isn’t the Washington you’ve heard of. You’ve heard of Washington, DC, the capital of the United States. Washington, DC, is a city on the east coast of the country, whereas Washington State is a state on the west coast.
Washington State is a lovely place full of beautiful mountains, clear rivers, and rugged coastline. Washington, DC, is a place full of . . . politicians?
HOW OLD ARE YOU?
I was born on November 20, 1986. You can do the math.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN VN?
I moved to VN on March 28, 2013. You can do the math.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN STUDYING VIETNAMESE?
I’ve been studying Vietnamese for pretty much the whole time I’ve been here, which means right now, about two and half years.
HOW DID YOU STUDY VIETNAMESE?

HOW SHOULD I STUDY ENGLISH?
Watch this video.
WHERE DO YOU TEACH?
As of the date of publication of this video, I work at Language Link, at 80A Lang Ha street. That could change in the future, though.
Registering at Language Link doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll study with me. The center has about 15 teachers, so the chances that you’ll be in my class are not high. I don’t get to choose the classes I teach, and students don’t get to choose their teachers. Just the way it is.
DO YOU TEACH PRIVATE CLASSES?
DO YOU TEACH ON SKYPE?
CAN I CHAT WITH YOU ON SKYPE OR FACEBOOK?
Nope. Try to put yourself in my shoes. I work a full-time job and I spend a lot of time making these videos every week, and I have a few personal interests and relationships that I try to spend at least some time on. I just don’t have the time or the interest to chat online. Sorry.
CAN I INVITE YOU OUT FOR COFFEE OR A BEER?
No, thank you. Again, try to understand this from my perspective. In the free time I do have, I want to go for a walk in the park, or have a meal at home, or read a book. Although I appreciate the friendliness of the gesture, going out for a drink with a total stranger just isn’t appealing.
CAN YOU MAKE MORE THAN ONE VIDEO PER WEEK?
No, at least not on a regular basis. What you see each week is 5 to 8 minutes of video, but there’s a lot of work that goes into it. First I write out what I want to say, then I edit it, then I practice it, then I shoot it, then I edit the video and add subtitles and effects, then I upload it to YouTube, and then I answer comments.
I would guess that for each minute of video you see, I spend one-and-a-half to two hours working on it. That means a five-minute video could take ten hours to make. For example, my most popular video video so far, this one, took an insane amount of time to make.
So if you want to see two or three videos each week, send me some money so I can quit my job. Otherwise, be happy with what you’ve got.
CAN YOU MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT SUCH-AND-SUCH TOPIC?
Maybe. I always read the comments on my videos, and if enough people ask for a video on a certain topic, then I’ll make one. For example, a lot of people requested a video about the words “other,” and “another,” so I made one.
But if you’re the only person who asks for a topic, I probably won’t make one. So go ahead and make suggestions, please. But I can’t make any promises.
CAN I SHARE YOUR VIDEO ON MY WEBSITE?
Yes, absolutely. All I ask is that you make it very clear that you got the video from my YouTube channel. Write my full name, tell people where they can find more. Even better, include the link to the original video, or a link to my channel. As long as you give me some credit, then share, share.
WILL YOU MAKE MORE VIDEOS?
Yeah. As long as my channel keeps growing, and I still have ideas, then, yeah, I’ll continue to make videos.
So the best thing you can do to ensure that I’ll keep making them is to share these videos with your friends, and to make suggestions for topics in the comments below. If everyone did that, then you could expect a lot more videos to come.
Hope that answers some of your questions. Peace.
